I discovered this incredible vintage 1960s wallpaper while garage sale shopping in Seattle, WA, in the late 1990s. I incorporated JFK's image onto the wallpaper to evoke nostalgia and anchor his legacy in the era he deeply influenced. The 1960s were a transformative period in American history, marked by cultural shifts, political upheaval, and JFK’s iconic presence. By placing his image on wallpaper from that time, I sought to create a visual connection between his life and the decade he helped shape.
The wallpaper is more than a decorative element—it represents the domestic and cultural atmosphere of the 1960s, a time of optimism, change, and turbulence. Layering JFK’s image onto this nostalgic pattern allows me to explore the intersection of history, memory, and the aesthetic of a bygone era, emphasizing how his influence still resonates in our collective consciousness.
