I've always been fascinated by the life of John F. Kennedy. Growing up in Springfield, VA, and Guam during the 1980s, I was drawn to the punk band Dead Kennedys and often heard rumors about the alleged connection between JFK and Marilyn Monroe.
Kennedy first met Marilyn at Peter Lawford’s house in Palm Springs. Lawford, a member of the Rat Pack, was married to JFK’s sister Patricia Kennedy and was also a close friend of Marilyn.
JFK stands out among U.S. presidents for his leadership during pivotal moments in history. He de-escalated the Cold War, established the Peace Corps, and set the nation on the path to the Moon. I've always been inspired by his courage as one of the youngest presidents, his call to reach for the stars, and his famous words: "Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country."
To reflect on his legacy, I’ve begun a serigraph series that explores his portrait, his wife Jackie Kennedy, and his controversial connection to Marilyn Monroe.
